I think the problem isn't so much about bikers' age or numbers, it's cagers on their cell phones. In every "near miss" I've had in the past few years, the issue has been some bozo yakking away on the phone. One time I got close enough to see "the whites of her eyes", and she looked at me like I was the one in the way. Pay Attention, Cagers!! Just 'cause most of us have only one headlight, doesn't mean we're not there.
