LIFE REALLY IS A BEACH at LAZY DOG BEACH

For Cheech, Louie, and Gizelle , three of the five Perewitz doggies, life really is at the beach. When ever the sun is out you will find these guys sunning themselves on the lounging couch. Doesn’t matter if the temperature outside is 5 degrees or 50 degrees. The sun shines in on the glass block wall and makes my whole office warm and toasty.

The dogs actually get “beach drunk”. This is a saying that I made up. Its kinda like when you are laying out in the sun and it feels sooo good to be sooo warm that when you pick your head up you get lightheaded and have trouble opening your eyes and focusing on someone or something. You just want to put your head back down and enjoy the warm atmosphere. This is what the doggies do. On sunny days they can’t wait to get up on the couch and stay there til the sun goes down.

P.S. Zip is too wild for laying in the sun at the beach…he only wants to swim after his ball.
Sebago, she prefers to lay on the black pavement in the driveway…the sun warms that too.

Riding weather finally HERE!

Today is so nice out, FINALLY! The temperature while I am writing this is 75! I think especially being a Friday, a lot of people suddenly came down with a "sickness" and couldn't go to work. There have been bikes stopping here all day. I am a little jealous that I can't be out riding my bike but hey hopefully there will be many more warm days!

My mom and I took the dogs outside in the field with a ball. Zipp chased the ball, Cheech chased Zipp and Lou chased Cheech! It was funny to see all three dogs panting from running around like crazy! Zipp was doing jumps and spins trying to get the ball.

If you are going out riding today, be careful, and have fun!

A Saturday Afternoon

Just thought I’d check in with a quick post today. Two Saturdays ago I buzzed down to Perewitz Cycle Fab. Unfortunately, Dave wasn’t there; he was off with Kory and Jeff to Cleveland. But, this time of year I don’t really expect to see Dave on a weekend in Bridgewater. If I do, I’m pleasantly surprised.

I did get my warm, wonderful welcome from Zipp and “the boys”, Cheech and Louie. When they settled a little bit, Cheech was in my arms getting some snuggle time while Louie and Zipp cozied up to each other.

It was a nice afternoon of visiting with Jody, Susan, Dee and even Billy and Uncle Danny. Both of the guys brought food – gotta love them. Not sure I should have had so many fries, but I can’t resist. Thanks, Billy!

As many of you know, the Perewitz family is one of the most generous, giving families around. They gladly give of their time and resources to several causes. The last two years Jody, Susan, Zizi, Leah, Tara, Dee and the kids, dogs and I have walked the MS Walk in Hyannis. While we were munching, Jody and I talked about doing it again this year but were bummed when we realized that the Hyannis walk isn’t happening this year and the Easton walk is on a date that Jody is going to be out of town! Grrrrr….

When I got home and told my cousin this (he’s lived with this disease for 30 years), we decided to have our family continue the tradition started by Jody. Our family is going to walk in the Easton walk with the hopes that both families can walk together next year. So the 9 members of Team Tocci are fundraising and training (now I feel every single fry I ate that day tenfold!). Wish us luck!

Oh, and….while I was hanging out with everyone I even got to see the celebrity bikes. You know and love them as Thug and Streets, well now here are their bikes, all shiny and waiting for spring riding after their journey to Daytona. Check ‘em out. I’ve posted a couple of other pictures over on the Kryptonite blog, too.

My Body Guard Zipp!

So, Jody’s totally called out her “writers” as slackers – and she has every reason to. We all said we’d pitch in and then…well, one thing leads to another – right gang? At least that’s what happened on this end. That and I haven’t been down at the shop lately.

But, I was there a couple of weeks ago to drop off shirts for the powersports show in Indy. It was a very rare evening when neither Jody nor Dave were kicking around the shop. I got to hang out with Susan a little bit…and the doggies, of course. Susan and I were having a nice chat in her office (which has an echo in it, but we’ll get to that another time) and the dogs were all around. Sebago was in the middle of the floor munching on what looked like a pig’s ear, Zipp was running back and forth from Susan to me.

Louie and Cheech decided that they’d had enough of each other and started to go at it. They often do and most people would think they are about to kill each other, but you get used to it and know that this behavior is just them playing rough with each other. I wasn’t paying any attention to it until I felt something at the bottom of my leg. I looked down and Zipp had his two front paws around my leg. I thought he was going to do something that boy dogs do…but no, he grabbed me, turned his head and growled at Cheech and Louie. Apparently he thought they were getting a little close with their fighting and he didn’t like it. How cute is that?! I guess all those treats that I bring have made an impact on Zipp-a-roo! Ok, I don’t bring as many as Joe Pro does – I’m not even in the same league as Joe with Zipp, but I think he kind of likes me. Again, how cute is that?? I was flattered. I know, I’m a dork, but I was…Zipp’s my special little buddy now.

Does that have anything to do with motorcycles? Not a thing. But it does have to do with things that happen at the shop…”Life at Perewitz” isn’t just about motorcycles – it’s family, friends and dogs, of course!

Trip 2 Indy

Kory, Jeff and I left for Indianapolis Thursday night. We arrived to the home of the Indianapolis Colts yesterday afternoon. We are here for Kryptonite to display a Perewitz custom at the Powersports Dealer Show. We are heading over to the show shortly so I will report on it later.

Yesterday while we were driving I saw an interesting thing. I was driving down the highway and I came apon a big truck that looked like a stock animal truck. As we get close I notice these little things sticking out the side! So I got up right next to it. "Oh LOOK" they were baby PIGS!!! I, of course the animal lover I am, got all excited! It figures we see something cool like that while I'm driving! They were so cute sticking their noses out the holes in the truck. I felt so bad for them because it must have been freezing and I hate to think of where they were going! Breakfast anyone?

I made Jeff get my camera and take some photos. They aren't very good but you can see their cute little noses! They were all so little, just babies.

So for the next 100 miles I said that when I have a house and a yard I want to "save" a potbelly pig! Louie and Cheech would love a friend!! I could get it a harness and walk it with the pups.

Another cool thing I saw was the Indianapolis Colts new stadium. They were building it last year when we were here but it wasn't much more than a hole in the ground and some big beams. It looks near completion this year. I have to say as much as I hate the Patriots arch rivals, they do have a nice stadium! It is a monster! I was impressed. Boy the Manning brothers have it all, the Super Bowl Ring and a new Stadium with a retractable roof!!

And the shows start!

Kory, Jeff, Louie, Cheech and I left this morning for a bike show in Reading, PA. We, in typical Perewitz fashion, got off to a late start. The drive was definitely entertaining though, from singing, to laughing, to making bets, to someone being a crybaby.

Jeff didn't know that I was recording him headbanging in the truck. I can just imagine what people thought as the truck and the Perewitz moving billboard goes by them.

We arrived to the show of course late and Kory had to do some serious driving to get the trailer in its place. Sara and I took apart the bobber we built at the last show so we can build it again tomorrow and Sunday.

We just got to the hotel a little while ago and the only good thing is that they have free slow internet connection. The hotel wouldn't be all that bad except our room smells so bad! It smelled like someone smoked a pack of butts and the doors have been shut for a week! None of us are smokers so this is really a disgusing smell! Hopefully Kory's Axe spray and the window open will air it out a little. Oh and they aren't pet friendly, opps! How can you say no to Louie and Cheech!!

Different Plog Post

When Jody asked me to write for the Plog, I was flattered…and then panicked. Seriously, what could I contribute to all of you who know so much more about motorcycles than I ever will. But then I started to think…that might just be why Jody asked me to write here every once in awhile. Because I wouldn’t focus on motorcycles all the time. Ah-ha….

I’d focus more on what I’d observe every time I’m down at the Perewitz shop or out and about with them. At one time it seemed like I was there every week and I observed a lot – 50s races in the parking lot, dog stunts (that Zipp-a-roo can jump and spin better than anything!) and met celebrities. I’m not there all the time anymore because life gets in the way sometimes, but when I am you can be sure that I’ll check in here and tell y’all who can’t get to the shop what I see during my visits. Or, who I meet.

So, who was the first celeb that I met there? I’ll tell you the story…..They were shooting last year’s Biker Build Off episodes and one of their popular Bike Nights was being held during the middle of the shooting week. I showed up early to get the Kryptonite tent unloaded and went to see what was going on around back. There was a group of people and I assumed it was all film crew until the a guy who looked very familiar walked by me, heading into the shop…but…nah…Dave would have told me, right? So, I paid no attention until a couple of minutes later Dave sees me out of the corner of his eye, welcomes me with a big hug and asks nonchalantly, “Did you meet Jeremy?” So, it was him! Of course he meant NASCAR driver Jeremy Mayfield. I’m a huge NASCAR fan so I didn’t think that my eyesight was failing me, I just didn’t expect to see him in Bridgewater. But, then I learned that Dave was building him a bike…of course, makes sense now!

This week I’ll be down at the Perewitz shop twice (yeah!) so I’ll be sure to check in and let you know what’s going on there, especially with my buddies Zipp, Cheech and Little Louie…and of course Dave, Susan, Jody and the rest of the crew.

Joe Pro's Helpers

Joe Pro is a great guy! If you have ever met him you will agree. He has been my fathers friend for as long as I can remeber. He is on his 15th Perewitz custom!

He comes to the shop a couple of times a month for a few days to detail bikes. He will spend easily 10 hours cleaning a bike. When he comes he has 3 little helpers, Zipp, Louie and Cheech! The three dogs absolutely love Joe. It is unbelievable, they will stay downstairs with him all day. They are glued to him.

It is something to because Louie is very timid and doesn't really bond with people he doesn't know except Joe and maybe Donna. Joe hasn't been here in at least a month because he was traveling but the dogs didn't forget him! As soon as they heard him they started to get excited!

One time we were watching a home video with Joe in it and Zipp was sound asleep on the couch. As soon as Joe came on he jumped up, looked around and went over to the door. He knew he heard Joe!

Sebago, Dave, & Smitty. (who was on the 1st BBO)

I am sad to post that a member of our family has passed away. Smitty my 12 year old Shepard died last Sunday. He was sick with cancer and died outside under a tree. I knew he was sick but couldn't do anything for him other than sit with him outside and pat his head. I don't think he was in any pain. I was extremely sad about it and am still sad now that I am writing this because he was a big part of this family.


Smitty left behind his sister, Sebago. The other dogs play with her more, I think they know she lost her friend. If you have tears, sorry, so do I! I didn't want this to be sad so I am going to tell a funny Smitty story!


Smity loved to swim!

When we first bought this building it was, um to be nice, not very nice! There were wild cats everywhere and a wild rooster. The guys next door in the body shop fed this rooster. It even had a name, Darryl. He had a mirror on the fence so he could look at himself and think he had a friend.


One day Smitty came over and we were walking out back and Smitty met Darryl, or should I say Darryl met Smitty!! Instantly Smitty went flying after him and of course I go flying after Smitty. It must have look so funny to see Smitty chasing the rooster and me chasing Smitty. I finally got him but not before he took a bite of Darryl. The rooster ran away so I figured he was alright even though Smitty had a mouth full of feathers!

The next day I came over and saw the rooster by the mirror and though oh he looks fine. When ever he turned around I almost fell over. His entire butt was bald!! It looked like raw chicken from the grocery store!

From then on we said, "What's for supper tonight, Smitty's Delight".
Smitty was a good dog and we all loved him, now he will get to chase all the chickens he wants!

The Dog Whisperer, De

DeDe has been helping here part time since we opened our new building about 3 years ago. I have known DeDe about my whole life! She is a great person.

De and Dirti

De has her own motorcycle that she probably rides more often than I ride mine! She even got some custom Perewitz pinstriping on it! De is here at every event we have rain or shine. She is a huge help greeting people, helping cook, clean, sell, and anything else that needs to be done.

At our first open house we rented a cotton candy machine. Well if you have never used one of those machines you really can’t appreciate those carnival people that spin it so perfect. The slightest wind blows the sugary mix everywhere! De had it all over her arms and hair. She was a sticky mess but what a good sport and laugh!



During the day De works as a nurse. A doggie nurse! And I guess cats and other animals too! She is Dr. Brown’s assistant. She has been healing animals for over 20 years! Boy let me tell you how handy it is having her with 5 dogs! Yup we have 5, Smitty, Sebago, Zipp, Louie and Cheech.

For example when Louie cut his foot (check out his previous post), I knew it wasn’t serious enough to take him to the hospital but I knew I had to do something. De was there to save the day with a remedy at hand. That is just one of the MANY times De has saved the day!

De would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. She is a caring fun individual! But as she has warned me this morning, “only one dog crisis a day!”

The littlest members of the crew, Louie & Cheech

Louie and Cheech are actually twins although they look nothing alike. Wouldn’t that be twins if they were born at the same time? Ok so all dogs from the same litter are twins or triplets, etc. Anyway, Louie and Cheech are Kory and my pride and joy!

Louie is the littlest. He is skinny, tall and timid. He is our mini pitbull, well that’s what he thinks he is, shhhh, he doesn’t know he is a Chihuahua! He is all brindle with one white sock, he lost the other ones in the laundry. Louie and Zipp are best friends. They run around here together and play all day.

Cheech is the opposite of Louie! He is all white with 2 brindle spots. He is definitely a chubba! He will eat anything. Cheech just follows me around all day. I go out and so does Cheech, I take the trash out, so does Cheech! He is more social with people than Louie. Louie will just hide when someone comes in.

Like Zipp, Louie and Cheech’s best friend would have to be Joe Pro and maybe Billy Twiss. They just love those guys, I am sure it could have to do with the many treats they give them but they love them anyway.

Zipp, Louie & Cheech

Louie and Cheech love to run in the field next to the shop. They go out there about 3 times a day and just run! They go so fast. Ususally it is Cheech chasing Louie but Louie had an accident out there the other day. We were walking out there and Louie must have stepped on something and cut is foot. He walked back to the shop with a bleeding foot. We stopped the bleeding and cleaned it up. He has been fine until this morning he was playing with Zipp and opened it up. I had to bandage it up. Poor little guy!


Cheech and Louie are awesome little dogs and companions. They have traveled all over the country with us to shows. Most of the time people don’t even know they are there. They are the cutest little rascals!
