A Night at the Palms

By Kory Souza

Dave and I have been out in Las Vegas at the SEMA show for the past week. The show was good, tons of wicked cool cars, hot rods, and misc. stuff.

On Wednesday night Dave and I met up with his friend Phil Harris to go to the Kicker party at the Palms. The party was in the parking lot. They dirt bikes doing tricks and getting real willy.

We were standing there talking with the headcheese of Kicker when he said "hey no one knows about this but look up, Travis Pastrana and some of his friends are going to jump out the windows"!

All the sudden you see some guys going out on the balcony at least 30 stories up and base jumped into the parking lot. It was such an awesome party already but that just topped it off.

After being outside for a while we went inside the casino. Phil asked us if we wanted to go "upstairs" I was thinking ahh ya ok. We get in the elevator with the bellman and we hit the Playboy suite button!

Oh wait till I till Jody I am going to the Playboy Bunny Suite! All the girls are going to be flowing to my jock like it's gold!

The suite was crispy. There were girls in outfits everywhere. The view was just unbelievable. We could see all of Vegas!

I didn't have a camera, my sidekick was the closest I could get. I know the pictures are horrible but it's better than nothing...

AMA Supercross

Ok so as I wrote in the previous post "Trip to Vegas" we were supposed to have tickets waiting for us but there were none there!

Not having tickets to the Motorcross was huge disappointment. We figured we came all the way out to Vegas so we might as well try to get in to the sold out show.

We ended up over paying for tickets from an "unauthorized" seller in the nose bleed section but it was a blast. The entertainment that those riders put on is one of a kind. There was tons of pyrotechnics, stunts, jumps, and the fighter jets that fly overhead after the National Anthem is one of my favorite parts of a big event. It is so patriotic!

The first race of the event was a mini bike race. They looked really small on that big track but they still flew through the jumps! There there was a ton of other races including the Kid's KTM challenge, where about 15, 8-12 year old race on KTM mini bikes. Some of them were wicked fast! It was the future of Motorcross.

The Australian born, Chad Reed won the Supercross Championship. When he came into the arena the crowd went nuts. He definitely has a lot of fans out there including 3 from MA! He puts on an unbelievable performance. He is very competitive and and excellent rider. He was nursing a broken shoulder from a previous race but still managed to beat Kevin Windham who was also a contender for the championship but there was no catching Reed by the 16th lap!

Motorcross is so big in the Vegas/CA area. We were in heaven just being among great riders, fans, and bikes. There are very few races in New England and the ones that are here are just boring. So you can just imagine how cool it was for us to attend an event like this. This was definitely a wicked good trip.

"Made my trip"

Sorry for not being able to post more last week. I will make up for it!!

While I was at SEMA I was walking with my dad and a guy came up to him and wanted a picture and autograph and the whole deal. He said that it made his trip to meet Dave Perewitz! It was like he was the President! Anyway I thought ya ya ya! How could my dad make someones trip?

Well later in the day we met the creator of that baby stroller that was in a picture in the earlier post. The carriage was wicked cool! My dad wanted to meet the creator and talk about maybe painting one! Imagine that Perewitz painting baby carriages! We do have some odd things painted... We don't even have any babies, we will have to rent one!!!!

After meeting the guy who made these $2,000+ carriages he told me that "meeting Dave just made my whole trip'! Another one!! Are people crazy! He is just an average guy, well at least that's how I think of it.

Those thoughts came back to bite me. I was walking on the strip in Vegas by myself and walked by a tattoo shop. It looked cool so I went in. I saw two guys talking to one another outside the shop. I thought one looked really familiar but couldn't place it... then I realized it was VINCE NEIL from Motley Crue!!! It was his tattoo shop. I was overly excited, how cool to see a legend rocker just standing there. No one was even around him or anything! So of course excited me waited till he was done talking and asked for a picture! He was wicked nice and friendly. Then it slipped out "Thanks for the picture, you just made my trip"! I said it! So I guess everyone has different taste and likes and mine just happen to be an 80's rock band!

Below are some more pictures from SEMA.

I was at the SEMA Show today in fabulous sin city, Las Vegas. I have so many pictures I can't post them all today!! I will save some for some periodic posts when I don't have anything else to write about... although that could be a while!

My mother and I must have walked 5 miles today and didn't even get to see a quarter of the show. If you have never been to SEMA you can't imagine how big it is!!! Our first stop was the PPG booth. It was definitely one of the coolest booths there! Their theme was the 70's. They gave away tye die shirts and had lava lamps and some wicked awesome colors! Also they had 2 really cool bikes in there ;-).

We met some cool celebrities and got some autographs and just oohhhh and ahhhh at all the wicked cool "cahs".

Here are some photos that I took! I will post some more tomorrow, so don't forget to check back!! Hope you enjoy them.
