Winter solstice in Boston

Motorcycles in New England?

New England's current forecast... especially the small town south of Boston, Bridgewater.

Currently we have about 16 inches of snow on the ground and with the current 10 day forecast it should be gone by mid April.

It is a blistering 20 degrees out but once you factor in the wind blown snow that hits your face, it's got to be single digits BUT the sun is out!

Never mind the tempeture but today is the shortest day of the year, so even if you could endure the cold riding, good luck with daylight!

http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_news/2009/12/winter_solstice.html

Honestly I am not complaining because I love where we live but as you can imagine it is tough making a living on something you can only use 5 months out of the year!
The cold snowy weather makes you appriciate the warm sunny day's in July! ahhh summer!

Dave worked on Goose, from Canada's bike last night. He layed the flames and then airbrushed some color in there.

Customer Service

By Thug Robinson

Great customer service from Dakota Digital:

Earlier this year, the "Baggah", a 2008 HD Road Glide, got a Perewitz "face lift".We added a full set of Dakota Digital blue gauges that replaced the HD stockers.

Very cool. Stock sucks...or at least could benefit from an alternative.

Anyway...in Sturgis, the oil temperature gauge lost an "element" which makes a digital gauge (for example an 8 looks like a 6) hard to determine the proper reading.

Bummed, I got the bike back and took it to FL. I decided to call Digital, worried that the time elapsed would negate any warranty. Plus, I don't like any parts of my bikes not perfect (obsessive that way, I guess).

Anyway, I called Digital and they sent a replacement straight away. They wanted the offending gauge returned and sent a UPS return label. I replaced the defective unit and send it back. My cost: my time replacing the gauge.

It was very cool that they did not want "proof" that my gauge wasn't working before they sent a replacement.

The "Baggah" is perfect again to make its appearance at Bike Week, 2010.Kudos to Dakota Digital!

Calendar?

Ok I wasn't going to share this but it is too funny not too!

Puch is complete!

Dirti finished the Puch Scooter last week. What do you think of this 50's scooter? He did an awesome job. The Puch is on it's way to Texas to an event with Allstate then it will go on tour with the Allstate Bobber to the IMS shows, so check it out when it comes to your city!

HD UL

Dirti has been working on a Flathead that we have had in the shop. It is a really cool old bike. He just gave it quite a few kicks before a puff of black smoke came out and it roared to life.

Puch is almost complete!

Check out the picture below of the progress Dirti has made on the Puch. He is just waiting for the seat to get recovered and some parts for the rear wheel.

Buell's

I have the chills listening to this... Being a Buell owner currently and Buell being my first bike this saddens me... what is the economy coming too...

Sidecar

Below is some updated pictures of the sidecar bike. Big Ron went on a rant today about the tattooed British A** that designed bike. Maybe I can get it on video tomorrow!
Something I forgot to mention about this bike is the motor! It has a Patrick Racing 113 Panhead with a Magna Charger on it!!!

Allstate Puch

Dirti has been working on the Sears Allstate Scooter. This scooter was branded by Sears but it was made by Puch in the 50's. This one is a 1958. The model is Allstate and Sears sold the scooter from the 50's to the late 60's.

It is coming out really cool. Another unusual thing to come out of Perewitz Cycle Fab.

Ebay!

We have just set up an ebay account to sell a lot of stock that we don't use. Check it out and BID on stuff!!!
perewitzcyclefab is our user name.
We are constantly adding more stuff. Check back if you don't see anything that interest you.

Dirti's Hair - it gets longer and longer!

Take a look at Dirti's hair! It needs a trim so bad and maybe some conditioner. I wonder if it gets in the way while building bikes???
I know my hair gets in my way often so I put it in a pony tail but Dirti very rarely pulls his back... sometimes he wears his Aunt Jemima bandanna.
This is an old picture and we thought it was long then!!!

The "Witchita" Project

The week before last Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were in Bridgewater filming for a new movie. They used one of the many corn fields in B'water as there set of a plane crash. They brought in a 727 plane to use and supposedly the owner of the field bought the plane so it will be a landmark! I am working on getting into the field to take some pictures so when I do I will share them. Or they may even make it into our 2010 Calendar!
Anyway of course we called a bunch of people to try to get Tom Cruise to stop by the shop but unfortunately we were unsuccessful. We had heard that him and Cameron were getting flown in by helicopter and flown out. So on Thursday We heard the helicopters (the set is only about 1/2 mile from here) fly over. Then on Friday we heard them again and ran outside. Sure enough it was the same BIG helicopter. So Jeff assuming it was Tom Cruise goes out in the parking lot and moons the helicopter!!! They definitely saw him! The helicopter was low and flew directly beside the store!
We were cracking up because later we found out that it wasn't infact Tom Cruise who arrived in an Escalade, it was Cameron Diaz! Way to go Jeff!
Later that night they "blew up" the plane. Check out the video below. My mom said she almost fell out of bed when it went off at 5 am. To bad I didn't still live in B'water!
Oh and something I forgot to mention, Jeff had an old school 70's helmet on too! Can you imagine what they thought!!

Exile Sidecar

A couple of month ago we had a customer that bought an Exile sidecar bike that he was going to build but I believe there was too much work involved so he brought it here for us to build.

It is kind of an oxymoron that someone would bring a bike that is supposed to be black to someone that paints "easter eggs" according to some...

Big Ron has been slowly working on the project. I am not sure of a deadline if there even is one but I am sure this will be an unusual ride to come out to Perewitz Cycle Fab!

What to write about...

Over the past 2 weeks I have been busy organizing and getting stuff done that I have been putting off for a while, that I lost track of the blog... I was thinking about it today and I was sad that I haven't made time for this blog. This is the stuff that I like to do, write about things around here, capture it on film and give our followers an inside look. So my apologies to all our faithful readers! Don't worry though I am back!!!

I went downstairs a few days ago and though "ah there really isn't much to write about..."

FALSE.

Last night Dirti and Kory helped me get my panhead running and it made me think. We actually have a lot going on downstairs that you are unaware of! Like I am embarrassed to say that I haven't ridden my Panhead in over 2 years!! Kory and I were going back to the last time I rode it and I can't believe how fast time goes by. It was nice to hear it run. It only took me 4 kicks to get it going despite Dirti's bet of SEVERAL kicks. She fired up but didn't stay running until a few more kicks and her kicking me good, she finally ran strong! So my Firebolt is going on the back burner and I am determined to put some miles on the 63! You may even get a post about Dirti taking her to the Tumbleweeds ride on Sunday!

Check out some facts below. I will hit each one of these in more detail in the next few days!

Dirti's Project

Check out Dirit's new project. He is building a flathead. The motor is a 1965 flathead from a sevi car with a 48 frame, that I believe was traded for some work on Dave P.'s truck. It's not much to look at now but it will be. Especially since he is hoping to become a Tumbleweed soon.
