2008 - Year in Review

I can hear my dad in June, when Kory and I were buying our house, I was nervous as most new homeowners are about money. He said, "hey look at it this way most likely you won't go down in pay only up!" I am going to work as hard as I can to make sure that is true for 2009.

These happenings are in no particular order just as I think of it... So the year in review. We had a lot of major things happen and a lot of things we made happen! We have elected a new president that with all hope, will turn the economy around before it does more damage. But looking back we had a lot of good, fun things happen in 2008 and we intend to make 2009 even better! Take a look below!

YEAR IN REVIEW

The Perewitz crew attended 49 events throughout the year! That's a lot of traveling. I know you are thinking that is every weekend but some weekends we had 2 events so not quite every weekend. But there's no place like home!
Our dually and trailer has traveled over 80,000 miles in one year! That's 3.3 times around the world!

Kory, Dirti and the guys at the shop built the first Perewitz custom street bike. Kory modified a Suzuki Hayabusa. It got a TON of attention! No one said we do just American! With sport bikes getting more and more popular I see a few more of these in the future. But don't worry we will always build our traditional low lean customs.

In March, Thug and Streets became official members of the Perewitz Crew, thus beginning Thug & Streets Most Excellent Adventures!

Ruben Browns Sidecar bike finally got finished. It was definitely an experience riding in a sidecar. Hopefully you saw the tree wheeled machine it at our June Bike Night! It has an awesome custom sound system in the sidecar, installed by Detailz in Canton, MA.

We had 4 extremely successful summer Bike Nights. We love our Bike Nights as much as everyone else does and hopefully we can continue to have them for years to come. Thank you to everyone that attended our nights and for your support!

Kory displayed his custom motorcycle with Wild Turkey (and all the girls) at ALL the major rallies. Be sure to get your free sample of bourbon in Daytona 2009 and check out Kory's bike.

A Chevy SS Truck got flamed out for a customer! They loved the paint job. Definitely the hottest truck around, no pun intended.

In Sturgis I recieved the "Fearless Leader and One Cool Chick" award from the Top 50 lot. I was extremely excited to recieve it. I mean I knew I was cool but didn't think anyone else did :-0

Dave wrote a paint book with Tim Remus, Advanced Custom Motorcycle Painting. Some great tips in there and some wicked flames!

The shop has built numerous "old" bikes including a 50 & 60 panhead, a 66 Shovel, 37 Flathead and more in the works.

My dad built a new "scoot". A 60's Vespa! We completely restored it and gave it a Perewitz Paint job. It came out really cool. He displayed it at the SEMA show.

In September we rescued 3 puppies from a shelter in Puerto Rico. They all arrived during a bike night so it was a little hectic. We were able to find 2 EXCELLENT homes for 2 of them but the 3rd just fit in at Perewitz. So I decided to adopt her, Giselle! As the organization says "She hit the jack pot!"
Oh ya and Giselle, Lou and Cheech finally have their own yard. Kory and I bought a beautiful house in June!

Ah what a year! As time, people, and the economy changes we must adapt to the current status. In 2009 we are going to do whatever we need to, to continue to make things happen and have a wicked good 2009!

Factory 5

We have recently joined forces with Factory 5 Racing out of Wareham, MA. They build kit cars. Kory and Dave met up with the owner at the SEMA show in Vegas. Go figure they are about 15 miles from our shop and they meet 3,000 miles away!

Anyway, they decided that we could collaborate on something. It has finally come together! Last week they delivered a 33 Ford 3-Window kit car. We are going to build the car for Factory 5. The guys and especially my dad are extemely excited about the project. The car is going to be one bad looking car!

It will have a 3-Valve Ford racing motor, Tremec 6-speed transmission, Independant Front Suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, and Perewitz paint job. Just to give you a little idea about the car, it will only weight 2100 lbs complete, minus Dave!

The kit has have a more modern chasis, suspension and brake. So it should handle better than a new Z06 Corvette. Anyone up for a challenge?

Look for photo's tomorrow of the chassis, boxes, parts, misc stuff, etc.

I will take photo's and update you along the way. It is going to be very fun project.

Krptonite Locks

The whole Perewitz crew travels many miles every year so we want to make sure that our property is protected! For that protection we use Kryptonite Locks.

They are a local company owned by Ingersol and Rand. We have been using their products for some time now. They make so many different locks that you are bound to find one to keep just about anything safe.

I personally use them at work and home. I have a heavy duty cable around my tractor in our garage. They can be good for anything.

I would rate Kryptonite Locks a 5.

Street's and Thug's DNA

By Thug
Here’s a pic of our father, Keith, on his 1937 BSA M22. He bought it after returning to Canada after WWII. A 500cc single with a 4 speed tranny. It was BSA’s sports model at the time.

At one point, there was as sidehack, but it was stolen. Our mother and father used it as transportation until Streets was in the oven.

Streets remembers getting a ride at about age 3. I only remember it around our houses. The piston seized somewhere along the line. Our father decided to paint it, but never got it running. In 1971, he gave it to a friend of ours with the instructions “Don’t sell it and don’t chop it”.

My friend got it started, but never put it on the road. Sometime during the last 37 years, or so, he took it apart.

I made contact with him a few years ago and told him that I wanted to buy it back, but he wasn’t interested. Earlier this year, I called again and he reconsidered. I was able to buy all the parts he had this Spring. I’d like to put it back together in its original form, but what a project!

BSA had no manual and I am having a very difficult time figuring out what exactly it’s supposed to look like. It’s missing handlebars and the innards for the front brake, but I think I have the rest.

The Perewitz crew has offered help with sandblasting, painting, and rechroming.

With a little luck, sometime in 2009, Streets can give our mother another ride on it. She’s 87. Don’t tell her…it’s a surprise.

News From Harley

News from Kelly at HD.
I wanted to let you in on the excitement at Harley-Davidson regarding the release of the XR1200 in the U.S.! Inspired by the legendary XR750, the XR1200 is the newest member of the Sportster family, and comes to the U.S. following its Europe-only release back in April.

As you may know, the XR750 was the most dominating American dirt track racing motorcycle of all-time, earning the Number One plate in an unprecedented 26 AMA flat track seasons. In fact, as a tribute to the XR750, there is a pre-sale of only 750 XR1200 models from 12/1 – 12/15.
Check out the photo's below. All this news will be released the begining of December along with a video!

PPC - Dake

We have formed a great relationship with the guys from Dake over the past few years. Not only is their customer service top notch but they also make a excellent product! Dake offers a complete line of hydraulic presses, arbor presses, bench presses, cold saws and bandsaws. Dake's product are vitually maintance free.

It is kind of tough for me to write a review when I personally don't use their machines but... I did get a few words from our Master Fabricator Big Ron!!

"I wouldn't be able to make custom exhaust pipes without Dake machinery". He explains how he uses one of our Dake products everyday from cutting exhaust pipes, to pieces to stretch a gas tank.

It just so happen that Big Ron had his dake hat on too! We even support their apparel!

Kory and the guys uses the Dake Press in the service area quite often. They use it for pressing bearing in and out of wheels, primary's, swingarms. Kory said " the Dake press is crispy!" It also transformers into an oil filter crusher!

I am going to rate this product a 5! You can log on to Dake's website at www.dakecorp.com to find a dealer near you. Tell them Perewitz sent you!

You always want to be safe while using Dake machinery.

Dake used one of our bikes in their booth at the SEMA show.

Dirti

How funny are these pics! We love Dirti!

SOA

There has been a lot of talk about Son's of Anarchy everywhere. I watch it every week as does most of the guys here at the shop. Honestly I don't watch a lot of TV. There are 2 shows that I watch and most of the time I am watching them ondemand because I miss them when they air. Those shows being SOA and Entourage.
If you haven't seen SOA check it out tonight. I'm sure you won't regret it!! Let me know what you think!

Mud Puppy

By: John Stong

This is a picture of a Michigan "Snot Otter" a large newt type critter that lives in the Great Lakes area...If you happen to find one, it means the ecosystem they are in is pretty healthy...they are hard to find unless you are in the habit of crawling around in the rivers flipping over rocks and logs...every once in a while somebody will catch one when fishing with a worm for bait, They are entirely aquatic, so you will never find one under a log on land....This one was caught in the Muskegon River on Sat Nov 15th...It is a very healthy river with a good population of Steelhead, Walleye, Salmon, Smallmouth bass, Catfish, Sturgeon, Turtles, Snakes, etc.

PPC - Carhartt

Living in New England we have no choice but to dress warm in the winter months. The best gear to have is Carhartt! My dad has been a big fan of them for as long as I can remember. From November to April my dad would wear his tan Carhartt jacket.

Now we are all wearing their gear. Kory and Jay in service both have Carhartt hooded sweatshirts/jackets. I know Kory's is stained, has a few small tears, but he still wears it everyday! It doesn't matter what they aventually look like they never stop keep you warm!

I recently got a bunch of great women's stuff. I honestly wear something Carhartt everyday, today I have on a pair of jeans and a belt! I love the sweatshirts too! I got most of this stuff in July, not exactly Carhartt weather, so I was excited to start really wearing all the gear. I got some thermal shirts that are not only comforable but fashionable! I can't wait to go snowboarding so I can really test them out!
I would rate this product a 5 on the Perewitz scale!
We have/use it, you must have/use it, nothing better
