MS Awareness Week

This week is MS Awareness Week. This is a charity that we contribute to often. There are several things that you can do to help this aweful disease. In the United States today, there are approximately 400,000 people with multiple sclerosis (MS)—with 200 more people diagnosed every week.
One of the things you can do to help is sign up for a walk in your area. Usually, my cousins, Zizi, Donna, my mom, and the kids, and dogs do a walk but I am sad to say that I will not be able to do the walk this year. But I will still make a donation! You can do the same if you can't do a walk either.
Below is a little info about MS. Please take a few minutes and see what you can do to help make the world free of MS!

Multiple sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves. Symptoms may be mild, such as numbness in the limbs, or severe, such as paralysis or loss of vision. The progress, severity, and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another. Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving new hope to people affected by the disease.
While the cause (etiology) of MS is still not known, scientists believe that a combination of several factors may be involved. Studies are ongoing in the areas of immunology (the science of the body’s immune system), epidemiology (that looks at patterns of disease in the population), and genetics in an effort to answer this important question. Understanding what causes MS will be an important step toward finding more effective ways to treat it and—ultimately—cure it, or even prevent it from occurring in the first place.

Around the Shop

There is a lot of interesting things going on here today. First Joe Pro is here! So of course all 3 dogs are downstairs sitting next to him watching him clean the bikes just waiting for even a look! It is really too funny. Last night Louie would not get in the truck to leave. He always come with me but he would not leave Joe's side. I had to pick him up and carry him out while he turned his head trying to get one last glance at Joe for the day. My mom let Zipp stay here with Joe which must have made his night. For some reason Zipp is really tired, wonder what him and Joe were doing last night??? Probably out chasing girls!

Kory and Jeff left wicked early this morning for a show in Cleveland, OH, the Cleveland Autorama. If you are in the area go by tomorrow to Sunday. They will be there all weekend. My dad fly's out tomorrow so he will be there too but I know you really want to see Shizzle and Jeff! They have 4 bikes including Thug's Baggah. It should be a good show!

Also Big Ron is making some progress on my new bike. It is finally down on the ground with only some small metal work to be done and then it is ready to be torn apart and go to paint. Jay the painter sprayed a color for me this morning. I really like it! It's going to be different that's for sure. I won't reveal the color till a later date! but it's not purple!

One last thing, I talked with Thug this morning and his son has been deployed to Afghanistan. So I just wanted to say THANKS again for serving our country and we hope he has a safe trip!

Thug & Streets Most Excellent Adventures - Daytona

By: Streets Robinson

Like all good things, Thug and Streets Most Excellent Adventure has come to an end. We had a blast!. I can't possibly relate all the good things that happened during Bike Week 'cause I'd clog the blog. But I have a few things I noticed in Daytona and a few random observations I'd like to share. In no special order they are:

1) Everyody knows Dave
2) Dave knows everybody
3) Most of the women who "flash" while riding down Main Street would do the world a favor by keeping their shirts on
4) To the 1% of the women who actually look pretty good while flashing....Thank You
5) If you don't believe that God created women, stand next to the Wild Turkey Girls for about 5 minutes. "HE" was in a good mood that day
6) Kory Souza is the happiest when he has his arm around Jody, Cheech, or a wrench
7) Fact! Lollipops makes 99% of their annual profit during Bike Week. Most of that 99% comes from Massachusetts. You can look it up
8) When it comes to motorcycle repairs, the Perewitz crew does the extremely difficult immediately. The impossible takes about 4 hours
9) Nobody beats Jeff Salim at the electronic punching bag machine. Guy's got a mean overhand right
10) The Garage Girls are doing some seriously important work. Support them

That's about it. Thanks to the Perewitz Posse for showing us a great time, introducing us to some awesome people, and leaving us with many stories to tell. See 'ya down the road.

Street's New Tranny!

By: Doug Robinson, AKA Thug

Streets’ blue bike had a POS tranny that was never quite right and was scheduled to be swapped out for a Baker after Daytona. It wound up being swapped out during Daytona.

You see, shifting from 2nd to 3rd rarely happened. It would shift from 2nd to neutral, then to 4th. Getting it in gear was quite an ordeal, too. At least in 5th or 6th, if and when you got there, it would be OK. Hearing Streets trying to shift sounded like a quartet of castanet players.

Well, the POS tranny must have felt bad about all those times 3rd gear went missing, so Friday afternoon it decided to try and set things right by finally going into 3rd and staying there-at least for the duration of Bike Week-but probably for all eternity. So Streets nursed the bike to Dirty Harry’s and told Dave and Kory about it.

Dave’s friend Domenic has a lift and the tools at his house and was kind enough to allow Kory to use it. He and Paulie helped with the wrenching, as well. Streets limped the blue bike to Domenic’s and things were set.

Dave contacted the folks at Baker (thanks Ryan) and they overnighted a new RSD 6 speed to the landlord of the house the Baker folks are staying at. The landlord got the tranny to the house. Streets and I went to the house and met Scott who gave us the box. We then had to get it to Kory so he could get started. By about 4:00 on Saturday, the new Baker was ready to be installed.

Later, Dave, Dave O, Jody, Sara, and I met at the house as Kory, Domenic, and Paulie were finishing up. At 8:00 that night, the blue bike was back in order. Streets took it out for a shakedown ride and returned with an uncharacteristic “yee-hah”. The Baker shifts like “buttah” and all is well with the world.

This was an example of customer service that would make Nordstrom envious. It wasn’t easy shouting into cell phones over the din of hundreds of free flowing v-twins, but everything worked out.

A great story thanks to all involved.

Daytona stories

Yesterday was a busy day for everyone in our "circle". I finished the build with the other girls, which was a great success, my dad sold the panhead, and my favorite Thug and Streets got their own custom shirts! I had some special shirts made for them that I knew they would love! And they did! Thug and Streets are becoming blog favorites.
Streets said that he would write about him and Thug's adventures in Florida for the blog. So I am going to hold him to it!
Tomorrow we are off to the Builder's Breakfast in the morning, so maybe we will see you there!
