Rock Ride 08`

By Mike Keegan
I had the pleasure of working the first annual "Rock Ride" this past Sunday and I have to say that I was pretty impressed with the whole event. The weather was perfect, the bikes were beautiful, the people were great and the State Troopers that acted as escorts from Waltham to Boston were the best.

Celebrities and VIPs were everywhere waiting for Steven Tyler and his crew from Red Wing Motorcycles to arrive and lead the ride into the Live Nation Pavilion for a great concert featuring some of Boston's best musicians.

It was a very cool experience to have Rt 128 and Rt 93 shut down and traffic pulled aside so all 500 plus bikes and our big red truck could get into Boston and down to the waterfront as a group.

Money raised from the ride, and an auction and concert with Steven and Joey Kramer on Monday night at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, went to several charities doing great work around the world. Before the concert the winner of a national" Guitar Hero" contest was given a custom Aerosmith Red Wing motorcycle presented and autographed by Steven Tyler.
It was great to see so many Bikers turn out both days to enjoy the ride, the music and each others company while at the same time raising money and awareness for charity.

Ghetto Taxi

As you may have noticed the Ghetto Taxi has been delivered. Dave and Susan delivered it to Ruben right before Sturgis. The bike went to Buffalo so Ruben can take his kids for rides in it. Below are some photo's from the trip. Maybe there will be more of a story to come later...

Big Ron's Photo's

The sound of thunder bounced off of the walls as we arrived in Plymouth and I was hoping it was just the sound of Big Ron's bike.

Unfortunately, that was not the case. It was the real thing and we had just started shooting Ron's bike as the rain came in and soaked us.

Thanks to Big Ron's patience and Toni-Ann's positive attitude we got the pictures done between downpours with only a few mad dashes to the truck to take cover.
When it wasn't raining we were waiting for the guys who were stopping and looking to move along. They said they were checking out the bike but I am not sure if they even saw it because they never seemed to take their eyes off of Toni-Ann.

Oh, and then there was the train coming through which was not a really big deal except that the bike was on the track and I would have taken a picture of the look on Toni's face as the train was headed for her but we were too busy moving the bike, and Toni, out of the way.

With all that going on we did get all the pictures done and had a pretty good time doing them and nobody got too wet or run over by the train.

All in all, a pretty good day - awesome bike, beautiful girl and some quality time with Ron.
Just a few more reasons why I love my job.

THUG AND STREETS MOST EXCELLENT ADVENTURE, PART 2

By: Streets

With Thug and his friend, Alan Pope as my guides, I just completed my "Virgin Voyage" to the Sturgis Bike Rally. Most of you readers have made multiple trips to Sturgis and the surrounding territories, so many of my observations will seem obvious to you. But hey, I'm doing my best. Again, there were way too many activities to include here, so I'm only going include a few highlights in this post.

Here we go.....

Sunday -- Devil's Tower was OK, but where was the mother ship from Close Encounters of the Third Kind? I was a little disappointed.

Monday -- Mt Rushmore in the rain. I've seen many of Mother Nature's works, but Mt Rushmore is by far the most impressive natural rock formation I've ever seen. Even more impressive was the incredible amount of money the Hamsters raised for Children's Care Hospital at their annual dinner that night.

Tuesday -- Custer State Park and Needles Highway. Who in their right mind called Needles a highway?? I was peg-scraping all afternoon! Left, right, up, down, hairpin turn after hairpin turn. Over bridges, under tunnels. It was alI could do to keep the bike on the pavement and gawk at the scenery at the same time. At the end of the run I was completely exhausted. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Heading back to Spearfish on I-90 we got caught out in the open by the worst rainstorm I'd ever been in. Soaked to the skin, goggles fogged, rain pounding on my head, riding at 35 MPH one-handed (with the other shielding my eyes),on the shoulder. Whew! Was I was ever glad to see exit 14! (P.S., After that experience, I'm convinced that Perewitz bikes can operate under water) We went to bed early that night.

Wednesday -- Downtown Sturgis. We took the day off from hard riding and just strolled the streets. Lotsa very interesting bikes, and interesting people. Question....How many tee shirt vendors can one rally support?

Thursday -- Hamster Run, Spearfish to Sturgis. Hundreds of yellow shirted bikers led by a police escort. You've just gotta see it to appreciate it. 'Nuff said.

Friday -- The Badlands. A long ride, but I'm very glad I went. The pictures I took will never adequately capture the beauty of the landscape. And I got to gas up in Scenic, South Dakota. Population - 12 Another

Thug and Streets Most Excellent Adventure has come to an end all too soon. Who knows when and where the next one will occur. But I can't wait to see what happens. See you down the road! Streets

Three 6 Mafia at a bike rally?

Friday night Kory, Jeff and I went to the Full Throttle Saloon, a frequent hangout for us. We went to meet with the people from Wild Turkey because they use Kory's bike for their display. Once they were done we decided to stick around and check out the entertainment for the night. It was very interesting. The rap group Three 6 Mafia was playing. All three of us are fans of the group but I just couldn't see leather wearing tattooed Harley riders jammin out to Lolli Lolli.
Well I was correct as the night got later and it got closer to 11pm when they were supposed to come out the crowd changed. The bikers slowly disappeared and the younger different crowd appeared. There were many street bikes appearing as well as some kids that didn't look old enough to drive never mind drink.
All in all it was a good concert. We didn't stay for the whole thing because we had a trailer at the hotel waiting to be loaded. So we left about 1am. We were wide eyed looking for deer the whole way back too! By the time we got done loading the trailer it was 4am and I was exhausted! I could have fallen asleep standing up! A day of riding, running around, and loading the trailer takes a lot out of ya. Plus the hot South Dakota sun!

Perewitz Paint Show

We had the first Perewitz Custom Paint Show on Wednesday at Thunder Road. Kryptonite and Devilbiss were the major sponsors. The prizes were custom trophies painted by each of the judges, Kryptonite locks, and Tekna spray guns for first place. It was a great turn out for the first time event. We had about 35 bikes enter the show. They were all awesome to look at! I don't have the exact list of winners but below are a few pictures. I will post the winners when I get home. Congrats to all the winners! and painters!
And thank you to our great sponsors!

Day of Riding

MyHotComments.com
MyHotComments

Yesterday we went for a short ride into Deadwood, SD. After we went to get something to eat and got a little more. While sitting down for dinner the sky got very dark and let down bucket loads for rain. Ok so we can deal with the rain, so what if things get wet we can clean them and dry them. That wasn't the end of it. It soon started to hail. The biggest hail I have ever seen. The pieces were the size of a bottle cap and bigger! So there was a mad scramble to get the bikes under cover. All we could do was watch and wait it out. So we went back inside had a delicious meal and waited till the coast was clear. Kory, Jeff, and I rode back home wet and dirty. It only took us an hour or so to scrub our bikes clean and we have a good story to tell.
