Easter?

I got this picture from Thug who got it from his son in Afghanistan. This is how they tag their chickens. There is no coops or "property lines" so the chickens just roam free. To identify who's is who's they dye them!
This is a real photo, no photoshop involved!!

Happy Spring!

Today is the first day of spring! Wahooo. For us New Englanders it seems like the cold and snow is never ending but warm weather here we come. Although it doesn't feel like it today with a tempeture of a whapping 32 degrees, we have noticed people are getting the itch at the shop. Our service area is getting more and more crowded. Dirti and Kory have been working non stop getting people their bikes ASAP so when that weather hits our customers bikes will be ready.

I am actually excited to work in my yard this weekend. Hopefully I will see some signs of spring!

I took the below pictures on a "mini vaca" I went on. Can't wait till our flowers are like this.
Have a nice weekend!

Daytona 2009

We had a good Daytona this year. We debuted the Allstate Bike at their booth all week, Kory put his bike in Wild Turkey's booth at Dirty Harry's and despite the cold weather (ok so it was about 55 a few days and beats here but not FL weather) we did a lot of riding!

Dave, Kory, Matt, and myself were at Allstate's booth all week at the race track. I had to come home Monday because someone has to be here but the few days I was there were good. And Busy! I was really surprised to see that Daytona was busy early. Despite the economy I think that so many people are just sick of the cold and snow. I know I am!

I also got to meet 2 kids that Kory and Jeff are always talking about, Twinkie and Chad. Chad is a painter from Daytona. Twinkie is like Dirti's twin, he just comes up with the funnest things.

Chad just finished painting the owner of Lollipop's Lincoln. He picked Kory and I up a couple of times in it. What a bad car, especially when it dropped on the frame! Chad is an exceptional painter. Take a look at his work, http://www.cccustoms.biz/

Ruben Brown was there for a few days too. Kory hooked up a photo shoot for the cover of American Bagger. Kory, Matt, and I had fun with Ruben and Barrasso. Both of them are "good dudes"! There sure was a lot of laughs between us all.

Check out the photo's below.

Allstate Teams Up with Dave Perewitz to Help Increase Motorcycle Awareness and Safety
Perewitz-designed bike worth $50,000 will be given away

NORTHBROOK, Ill. (March 16, 2009) -- Allstate announced it is partnering with Dave Perewitz, one of the top bike builders in the country and an icon in the motorcycle industry, for its 2009 Mobile Garage Tour. Perewitz will hit the kickstand and join Allstate at select motorcycle rallies throughout 2009 to talk bike with his fellow cyclists and discuss the best ways to help keep riders and their bikes protected.
In addition to the tour, Allstate will be giving away a $50,000 custom motorcycle built by Perewitz. Rally attendees will have the chance to check out and win a custom Perewitz-built bobber motorcycle designed specifically for the company’s 2009 tour. Participants can register for the “2009 Allstate Motorcycle Sweepstakes” at each tour stop, as well as online at http://www.allstatemobilegarage.com/. The sweepstakes will run through February 15, 2010.

“We’re thrilled that Dave Perewitz is joining us on the road to help rev up the conversation about motorcycle safety,” said Julie Parsons, vice president of Allstate’s consumer household unit. “And we’re excited to be able to give away this cool bike he’s designed.”

Perewitz has built an illustrious thirty-year career in riding, building and customizing motorcycles. In 2006, he was named the winner of the Discovery Channel’s Biker Build-off, and his company, Perewitz Cycle Fabrications, has built choppers for numerous celebrities, including Hulk Hogan and Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford.

Before select rallies throughout the country, Allstate will donate Motorcycle Safety Foundation training videos and materials to local drivers education classes and other organizations to help prevent all-too-common situations in motorcycling – accidents at intersections. With the influx of motorcycles in and around these communities, safe riding and driving is of paramount importance. Additionally, Allstate will distribute safety tip cards for both riders and motorists to help them share the road safely.

In addition to talking about safety, visitors to Allstate’s Mobile Garage will be treated to an interactive experience with custom motorcycle building demonstrations, virtual biker build offs, plus a variety of VIP comforts like massage chairs, misting stations and the chance to speak with Perewitz or on-site Allstate agent about recommended motorcycle insurance features and benefits.

Allstate Mobile Garage Tour events include:

· Daytona Beach Bike Week – Daytona Beach, FL
· Laughlin River Run – Laughlin, NV
· Laconia Bike Week – Laconia, NH
· Allstate 400 at the Brickyard – Indianapolis, IN
· Sturgis Bike Week – Sturgis, SD
· Lone Star – Galveston, TX

“Whether you’re on two wheels or four wheels, safety on the road should always be a top priority for anyone hitting the streets,” Perewitz said. “Working with Allstate, it’s cool to see that the company is really committed to rider protection. They understand what bikers need for protecting their ride, themselves and their families.”

Allstate motorcycle insurance offers one of the most competitive policies in the industry with many product features, including: first accident waiver, guest passenger coverage, customization coverage and towing coverage at no additional charge.

If eligible, motorcycle owners can save up to 40 percent off of their premiums with multiple policy discounts, transfer discounts, a good rider discount, and by belonging to their favorite motorcycle organization. Ryan Creeden

We recently got news that a former Perewitz employee was in a bad car accident. Ryan Creeden worked for Perewitz around 2003. Ryan was a great kid. He recently moved to Texas to pursue a culinary career. He was driving home from work and struck a utility pole.
I don't want this post to be a sad one so I will tell you good story about Ryan and if you got a chance to meet him while he worked here I am sure you have some too! If you saw the episode from the first BBO, Ryan was the one on the fatboy riding in the snow!

In 2003 we competed against Billy Lane in the Biker Build-off. Back then it was different. The ride was much longer, the company was awesome, and the comerradery was one of a kind. There seemed to be a lot more time and not so rushed. Our ride went from Pensacola FL to Dallas, TX. That trip was one of the best trips I have ever been on.

Ryan and his friend Matt drove one of the many trucks and trailers down to Florida for the start of the ride. Everyday we took turns driving the trucks. On the second day it was Ant BB (Barb) and my turn to drive the truck. So we drove the "sweeper truck" it was our job to help any of the 80+ bikers that was with us if they needed it.

There was a few that needed gas so we stopped and helped and then we came across Ryan, Big Ron and his friend Matt. We immediately pulled over. We were somewhere in Louisiana surrounded by nothing. Ryan refused to put his bike in the trailer so he and Big Ron got to it trying to fix it. In the mean time BB and I were chit chatting away being silly. We decide to get the cooler out and camp out on the grassy side of the highway.

We were doing the up and down arm movement and getting big trucks to honk! Before we knew it we were all on the side of the road flapping our arms at 18 wheelers. Ryan eventually got his bike running but we probably spent about 3 hours on the side of the road to fix a 1/2 hours problem.

Later that night we laughed about how silly we all were. So here's a honk for you Ryan! Everyone here hopes that you recover well so you can enjoy another motorcycle ride!

You can check out the website his family has made to keep everyone updated.

Thug & Streets Most Excellent Adventures - Daytona 2009

Daytona at last! Thug and Streets welcomed Alan Pope as a participant in our Most Excellent Adventures. Alan, from now on known officially as "Da Pope", owns the bright purple custom that has graced the home page of the Perewitz website for the past week or so.

Friday - We're riding in shirtsleeves after a long cold winter. Finally!! First stop was the Allstate booth at the Speedway to see the Perewitz bobber on display. It must have been a hit, because we saw a lot of cameras pointed at it. We'll let Jody's post show you pictures of this slick little ride. We then headed for Dirty Harry's on Main Street to see what was happening. It was a little chilly for a wet t-shirt contest, but the participants were real troupers. A dry fleece sweatshirt contest would have been more appropriate for the conditions. For the ride home to Thug's place that night, we decided to let Da Pope lead us since he had a GPS on his bike. I guess GPS means Going Places SeldomSeen, because we definitely took the long way home...thru St Augustine I think....but it was a beautiful night for riding, we got a good giggle out of it, and nobody complained.

More to come, including Bloody Mary Monday and The Three Amigos on a scooter. Stay tuned.Streets
